NEW YORK — The New York Liberty announced a major trade in landing guard Natasha Cloud from the Connecticut Sun in exchange for draft picks.

On Sunday, Liberty team officials said it acquired Cloud and sent the team’s number seven overall pick and a first round pick in 2026 to the Sun.

“We could not be more excited to welcome Natasha Cloud to the New York Liberty family,” Jonathan Kolb, General Manager for the New York Liberty, said in the release. “Tash is someone who we identified years ago as a prime fit for our team and embodies everything we look for in a player.”

Cloud, who was recently traded to the Sun on February 2, played a majority of her career with the Washington Mystics and most recently with the Phoenix Mercury. Last season, she averaged 11.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game.

The 10-year veteran and 2019 WNBA champion, is joining the defending WNBA champions who will make an even stronger push for a repeat this season.

“She has always left a lasting impression on the Barclays Center crowd, and we look forward to seeing the best fans in the WNBA embrace her on a nightly basis,” Kolb said. “Tash will undoubtedly strengthen our roster on both sides of the ball as we pursue another title in 2025.”

The Liberty will open up the regular season at home on May 17 against the Las Vegas Aces. The full 2025 regular season schedule can be found here.
